Autumn creeping towards Halloween

Hi Everybody!

We are still enjoying warm and summery weather, but the temps should soon be slowly returning to normal. It is still much too dry, some places the Rhine has a depth of less than 1 meter, and this is an all time record, which can lead to serious consequences. The climate is changing!

Last week I spent a lot of time trying to recreate a card I first made many years back, and I think I have managed it, and even like it better than first time around. I didn't have the original anymore, but I did have a photo.
The card has now reached my good friend Sarah, who also loves the spooky time of year, so I can show it here. The background is paper from the DCWV Fairy tale block, matted with gold and blue card. The ghostly lady and the golden masonry  (stamps from LaBlanche) were stamped with embossing ink and  embossed with perfect pearls in interference blue and gold respectively. The Gothic arch was cut from some embossed and distressed gold card. The bat is a Sizzix die cut, which I edged with a gold pen, and the little sand-clock was in my stash:

I am linking to Simon Monday Challenge, starry night, TIOT and Paperbabe challenges, anything goes.

These are the remaining photos from my trip to Baldeney Lake last Saturday.

There is a weir in the middle of the lake, with a bridge to cross over, and an information centre, showing the lake and surroundings:

The building hidden in the trees is Villa Hügel, the mansion of the family Krupp, now a museum:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  1. I think your autumn photos are better than the ones I found on Pexels. The area around the lake with the trees make for beautiful shots. The color contrast is stunning.

Speaking of stunning, I adore that card you made/reworked. It is fabulous with the embossing powder. I am totally and truly impressed. I bet Sarah is over the moon with happiness.

  4. Gorgeous card. Makes me think of a movie poster for Dracula. The Autumn colors around the lake are stunning. I can't get over how blue the water is. Maybe I'm in love? Oh, wait, that's the Danube =^,.^= Have a lovely day!

    1. Thanks. That Gibson girl would have been great in a Dracula film. Every other time I went to that lake it was grey and stormy, so I loved seeing it so blue and sparkly.

  10. I love that card. Great job with it. It reminds me of some of the beautiful artwork in an old fairy tale book that I loved as a child. I'm not sure if it was originally my father's or if it was his father's, but it was huge, with pages edged in gold and the most amazing artwork. It was the kind of book you naturally wanted to treat with reverence, if you know what I mean. Unfortunately, when my father died, that book was nowhere to be found. He didn't remember giving it away, but he must have.

Your photos are great, too. I hope you get some cooler temperatures and rain soon. My fingers are crossed that the cooler temperatures we're experiencing today are here to stay.
