Flowers and birds

Hi Everybody!

It's time for a new challenge at
As always, it's an anything goes theme,
with optional purple.
Our challenges always run from the 5th of the month,
and projects of all formats are very welcome, so hope
to see you there!

I made
an  9 1/2 x 11 1/2" mixed media piece.
The paper was gessoed, and the central image is a paper napkin.
I stenciled the birds, numbers and alphas with black Archival,
and the dots with blue distress ink.
The sentiment is from Dylusions.  As backing I used
cardstock in blue and purple, and sewed round
it twice to make it stable enough for a future
journal cover.
I am also linking to creative artiste Challenge, anything goes and
we love to create, also anything goes.
I am also linking to Create with TLC, anything goes,
as Desire asked me so nicely to join in!

This hybrid piece, made with elements from Mischief Circus and me,
is meant for Rosie's 'Circles' challenge at

More visitors to my balcony:

Flowers on the Rhine meadows:

Horses on the fields opposite the supermarket:

Flowers by the Basilica:

And last but not least, some of the flowers on my balcony:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  5. Stunning project for the challenge at More Mixed Media everything on it goes so well together and great use of the napkin.

The face on your journal page is so beautiful and great that she I'd definitely the main focus.

Wonderful photographs today with things we all love to see. Nice to see the horses looking summery after wearing their coats for ages. Your flower photographs get better and better if that is possible

    Sleep well

  13. I love the quote you used in the first piece. I always say something similar when I'm learning a new technique. You have to be engaged before it really takes.

Your AJJ entry is lovely, and the circles are wonderful.

I really enjoyed your lovely photos today and I especially LOVE your colorful balcony.

  17. Hi Valerie, I can see where you got your inspiration for the flowers in the beautiful mixed media. They seem to match your photographs below :) The sewing is fabulous, I keep thinking I should get my machine out but it's a nuisance, it needs to be left set up. The second piece for AJJ is beautiful, I love the face. How wonderful you have birds at your balcony, love it. Take care, Shirleyxx

  19. I love your piece -- your napkin trimming is extremely good! I sometimes have trouble. The paper is so thin but if I cut it as three-ply (easier), it's sometimes very hard to separate. Bravo!

  20. Oh, I love your pieces. They are very moving.
And your pictures...horses and flowers. Awesome.
