A visit to the Altstadt

Hi Everybody!

Susi's challenge 'collage with a twist' at Art Journal Journey is drawing
to an end but you still have a couple of days left to link to us!
This A3 collage was made 6 weeks ago, and I rediscovered it under a pile of newspapers....I collaged bits of napkins,  music paper, washi tape and various flying bits and bobs from my always well filled table. The letters are some giant alphas bought years back and recently rediscovered while searching for something else.

Last week I had an appointment in the Düsseldorf Altstadt (old town),
so I used the time to have a cup of coffee and take some pictures
of the Christmas market and Burg Platz (Platz=Square):

The church spire is famous for not being straight.
It was damaged during the war, but rebuilt
as it was:

I love these statues on the advertising columns:

I have been intending to go on the big wheel, which is stationed here
every year from October to January, but up till now I never plucked up the courage to actually do it!

The tower is the 'Schlossturm', the rest of the palace was destroyed by
fire long, long ago. It houses a wonderful ships' museum,
and I will show photos of the inside another time:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Weekend this and that

Hi Everybody!

For Art Journal Journey, Susi's challenge of collage with a twist,
I have another hybrid piece, using 'my' men, and some digi elements from Mischief circus. This time I stuck to a vintage, monochrome look. I am also linking to Paint Party Friday.

I think I showed this piece before, I discovered it lurking in between the clean sheets in the closet. I have no idea why I put it there....

Here are some of the stained glass pieces from the glass museum.
These are from the early 16th century:

This is a  modern one:

These are from the 17th century:

And some more modern work from the 20th century:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Happy Thanksgiving and more

Hi Everybody!

Happy Thanksgiving

to all friends in the USA!

Thanks to all who sent well wishes these past days.
I am still not feeling great, but things do seem to be improving, so
that's really good.

For Art Journal Journey - Susi's collage challenge, and Paint Party Friday
I have a mixed media/hybrid piece. The Matisse ladies are made with templates I cut years back, it was fiddly work but as I can use them again and again, it was worth it- I combined two hand painted backgrounds with a mask digitally, and then added my ladies, cut from DP which has flowers, but no leaves. And the ladies have no faces. The quote is from Matisse.

We have had more wonderful morning skies this week:

And here some more photos from the modern section of the
glass exhibition at the Kunstpalast (art palace museum)

And I still have more photos for next time!
Have a great day, take care
and thanks a lot for coming by!
