Tuesday this and that

Hi Everybody!

Here the week started cold, wet and windy, with icy rain, and some places they even had snow - I hope spring will soon come back!

Today we are starting a new challenge at TIOT - vintage photo.
Projects of all formats are allowed, and as always, you have 2 weeks to link up to us.

I once again used the lovely photo of Erika as a child, and placed her in a TH glass and metal frame. The background of the tag is part of a master board made some time back. This is one of the last pieces, so I have started on a new one. I placed the tag on a recycled and party peeled cardboard tag, which was painted with gesso. As embellishments I used some recycled flowers, lace and grass and a real leaf.

I am also linking to Moo Mania and More, floral.

Today is also Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so a big welcome to all the T gang. The photo here shows the house of John Wesley in London, now a museum. He was the founder of the Methodist Church. There seems to be tea and coffee and something to eat for everybody:

But my drink is, as always, cappuccino....

For Art Journal Journey, for the record, I made a hybrid piece, using a wonderful galaxy photo as background.  I heard this song on the radio yesterday, and was straightaway inspired. 'There's a kind of hush all over the world' was sung by Herman's Hermits in 1967, and by the Carpenters in 1976

And here the original song from Herman's Hermits:

And here some lover-birds in love:

On Sunday evening the sun came out after the rain and then we saw the rainbow:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Dream....

Hi Everybody!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

I am sharing more pages from my 'new' journal, which fit well to a song from way back when - 'Dream, dream, dream'  sung by the Everly Brothers in 1958.
I am linking to Art Journal Journey, for the record.

Recently I showed this photo from the work on the stairs by the Rhine:

And this is how it progressed:

The smaller stairs at the right are meant as a ramp for wheeling up prams and/or bikes:

Windsor Castle on the Rhine:

And I showed this photo of the trees being cut down in the square by the Basilica. Apparently they were full of some sort of pests which were destroying them:

On the day after the stumps were removed and also the roots etc:

Some of the sawn-off  logs have been left as seats by the houses:

And new lime trees have been planted already:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

It's spring, spring, spring

Hi Everybody!

Just a short post this time, today ran away too quickly!

This is  a  spread in my new journal, with a 'spring' theme. This was not originally intended for a challenge, but it reminded me of the 'Spring, spring, spring' song in the film 'Seven brides for seven brothers', which was shown back in 1954. I made a mixed media piece with my two spring chickens who have evidently fallen totally  in love with each other.

Linking to Art Journal Journey, for the record.

And some photos of today's breathtaking sunrise:

Walk like an Egyptian

Hi Everybody!

Another week has flown by, and once again it's time for Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin,  and Art Journal Journey, for the record.

My inspiration is a song from 1986, sung by the Bangles -
Walk like an Egyptian.
I think this is a song which would normally have passed me by, but back then we made a trip to England with 2 school classes. The song was a big hit,  and one which the kids sung time and time and time again on the long coach journey to London and back home.... In London it was just as 'in', and everywhere we went we saw youngsters moving around with strange arm and leg movements, as they all wanted to walk like Egyptians....But the best thing was a sign I saw outside a Church.  It was the week before Mothering Sunday, and the sign read:
'Walk like an Egyptian - bring your mummy to Church on Sunday'

I made a hybrid page using a mixed media painting made last year

This week I allowed myself some time out. I felt I needed to make things without thinking about themes, challenges and other people's ideas, which are good, but sometimes limiting. So I have started a new A5 journal, where I can just journal the first stuff that comes into my head,  using my ideas, texts, etc. I got quite carried away and have already made 20 pages, so I had fun!

Today was wonderful spring weather, sunny but cool, and great for walking. After my physiotherapy I walked 13700 steps, so I am sure that did me good. My knee is getting steadily better, and the physiotherapist is helping a lot, even though the treatment is sometimes rather painful.

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
