Hi Everybody!
Today we are starting a new challenge at Art Journal Journey, and this time our wonderful Bleubeard is hosting, together with Elizabeth, who helps him and produces the art. Her theme is 'What's your style', and you can read all about it on the AJJ blog. Before I show what I have made, I would like to thank our dear ERIKA for her wonderful theme of let's face it last month. And please remember to read the dreaded rules!
I'm not sure what my style is, as I always try different things, but I will try to show you some of my styles in the coming weeks. I am starting with a colourful collage of journal pages made recently:
When I think of your style, I see lots of faces and bodies. You have certainly created that in this wonderful post today, Valerie. I love how you digitally stitched the pages together. So much neater than my wonky ones. Thanks for this very colorful first entry for my theme at Art Journal Journey, dear friend. I hope you feel better soon because those flowers and those funnies sure brightened my day.
ReplyDeleteThanks E, have a great day!
DeleteDigital stitching is good, once you have the image in your programme yao can use it again and again!
DeleteHi Val, good morning! Love your colourful and vibrant Collage, so beautiful! Have a wonderful day. Hugs from us all, Sarah
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah. Have a great day, take care, hugs to all!
DeleteA fabulous page using some of your latest pages, great inspiration for the new AJJ theme. It was lovely to see some of your beautiful paintings altogether. This theme is giving us much to think about.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and well.
Yvonne xx
Thanks Yvonne, I love this theme, it gives so much scope! Stay safe!
DeleteI love your collage today. You do make very distinctive faces which are wonderful. It’s fun to experiment and try new thing. As I said to Elizabeth, I wonder if big names artists ever get bored having to make art that people expect from them. It is nice not to have that pressure. I love how you started the new month. Hope you have a great healthy February. Take care. Hugs Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika. I could never paint under pressure, I just like to have fun and experiment. Have a wonderful February, take care, hugs!
DeleteLove your collage piece. When I think of your style I think of birds, faces and the application of paint. Must admit that today I looked at your collage and thought "people", Valerie likes people.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you are feeling a bit better today and getting lots of rest.
Hugs
Neet xx
Thanks Neet. So true, I love paint and people and what can be done with both themes! Have a great day, hugs.
DeleteGood morning Valerie: Just look at all those intelligent, interesting, seductive faces all meshed together in one glorious collage. That's a good way to start my day. You indicate that you don't know what your style is since you experiment with different techniques, and that's a good thing, but I think the essence of your style is revealed in this montage, at least for your current phase. What it might become tomorrow, who knows? I am sure, however, it will be interesting for all to see. This morning I have a dental appointment. Not my favourite pastime but it has to be done. We all go and pay good money to have them do to us things we don't enjoy! This weekend if the weather cooperates and we don't have snow storms, we will be travelling to Ottawa to visit my daughter and family. Keep your fingers and toes crossed for us. Hugs and kisses, David
ReplyDeleteHi David! Style is something that always changes and evolves, so as you said, it's only possible to see the present stage. Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery, we only have the present! Dentist, hmm, not nice but necessary, I hope he doesn't hurt you too much! And yes, we have to pay fr the torture! I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you, and hope you can get safely to Oiiawa to visit your daughter. Have a wonderful day, hugs!
DeleteThat should have been Ottawa!
DeleteMaybe I'll go to Oiiawa instead.
DeletePerhaps you will see some new birds there!
DeleteHi Valerie! I am new to this whole "style" thing, but I do know that your style is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I love how you tied together all of your amazing faces (and flowers) into one awesome page entitled "What's my style?" It's simply gorgeous and so creative! And I loved your flowers photo and funnies, too. The one about procrastination made me laugh out loud. Thanks! HUGS, Sharon
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon, that's very kind. The procrastination map could have been made for me, too.
DeleteI needed to see your post today. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteGlad it was special for you, hugs!
DeleteI like your colorful style :) The flower arrangement is cheering.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot!
Deletei need this photo of colorfull flowers...
ReplyDeleteYes, we need flowers!
Deleteexpecially in those rainy days!
DeleteYes indeed!
DeleteI'm not sure what my style is. At my age I don't put at top of my list.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Have a great day. Stay safe!
DeleteI think your style is fun and colourful.
ReplyDeleteHow on earth did they get the camel in the boot?
Thanks. I have no idea how they got that camel in the boot!
DeleteDo you have to have a style, can't you enjoy doing different things I wonder. Great collage and photos. Pool camel looks a bit squashed!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I am a follower of style, neither in my art nor in my clothes! Yes, poor camel!
DeleteI do love the faces you have painted. They are so fully of colour and energy. Have a great week. hugs Anesha
ReplyDeleteThanks Anesha. I wish I had some of that energy for myself!

ReplyDeleteThanks Martyna, stay Safe!
DeleteWow what an amazing collage! Fabulous is definitely your style, but I do know what you mean about trying different things. I've definitely swum in Lake Coffee Break, and spend quite a lot of time in Online Shopping Cove lol. Take care and have a very happy February, Sue xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue. You and me too in Procrastination Land!
DeleteI ADORE the Map of Distraction. That is spot on!
ReplyDeleteIn your work I generally see two different styles emerge most often -- the brilliant, bold colors seen in your paintings and some of your backgrounds and the more muted, softer, vintage things (like those where you use your family photos). Those are the ones that stick with me most but I love all you share.
Thanks Jeanie, that's true, I like both styles. Have a great day!
DeletePortraits and bold colours - absolutely your style! This is the third device I have tried to leave a comment on - fingers crossed, hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris, sorry you are having problems. Hugs, Valerie
DeleteValerie what can I say but thank you for a cross section or should I say just a pinch of your creative style, all stunning, some I remember as you shared along the way and a couple I missed. You are never afraid to add more colour, you have a beautiful way with art. I laughed so hard at your funnies but the rocking chair quote made me near pee my pants.. so so true (I have a rocking chair too...:D)
ReplyDeleteBig hugs Tracey xx Take care my friend x
Thanks Tracey. Your comment nearly made me pee my pants, too! Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
DeleteI love your faces in particular (and that I can comment on your blog - first one in the list I can!) and the collage view is a great way to showcase your style. I have a queued post that is whole pages and not nearly as eye-catching or engaging. I must remember this for the future. I am really enjoying all the challenges - and appreciate the funnies to make me smile.
ReplyDeleteMary Anne
Thanks so much Mary Anne, glad you could comment here. Blogger is makig problems just now. Have a great week, hugs!
DeleteI totally love your use of color and your varied faces. You do faces so well. The collage is very cool! I have faces on my list of things to really delve into - facing fears you know. Those flower are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe memes and funnies are especially fun today - I love that map. I get lost in the forest, lake and beach a lot!
Many hugz and wishes for continued healing, Valerie.
Thanks so much Nancy. It's so easy to get lost in places we like! Hugs
