Hi Everybody!
Today I am sharing my Thursday / Friday post, beginning with a Tag meant for Pinky's challenge about birds at Tag Tuesday. I hope to see lots of you joining in and having fun with us. This is the purple picker bird, so called because it feeds on everything in this colour range:
And some of 'my' birds:
The herons haunt the little stream next to the house:
One of my balcony visitors:
And yes, David, the Canada Geese love it here:
And I have another piece for our new challenge at AJJ, and this one is all about me:
A mix of photos and some pieces from David Zinn:
On Friday I will be linking to Nicole's FFO and Gillena's AFFF
Have a great day, take care,
And thanks a lot for coming by!
Hugs!
I did enjoy your poem :)

DeleteAs you might well imagine, Valerie, I loved seeing all the birds, especially the Purple Picker Bird (Collectus pupureus), another species unique to the hills and vales of Balconia-by-the-Rhine, that hotbed of avian diversity. And the mere thought of Eurasian Bullfinch coming to my balcony causes me to swoon with delight. Your poetry too is a delight; quite a deft touch you have there, and I am very pleased to note that there is still life in the old dog yet. That’s the attitude we must all have; fight like hell, never give up! Early summer seems to have arrived here; yesterday the temperature was in the low twenties. I gave a presentation on urban birds at a branch of the Kitchener Public Library, to a packed room, and when I came home Miriam and I went for a walk, so our day was pleasant indeed. Neither of us felt much like cooking so we had a bacon and tomato sandwich for dinner, with some delicious sweet potato fries done in our relatively new and much used air fryer. It really has turned out to be useful. We find we use the oven less and less for dinners, but Miriam still uses it frequently to bake muffins and the like, and especially to make focaccia bread over which I swoon and salivate, thereby stimulating her to make more. Such is life on this side of the Atlantic. A main dish of hugs and kisses for you and a side order for Heike. David
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of finches here, but the bullinch is my favourite. My balcony is loved by all hungry birds! I have thought about buying an airfryer, but I cook so selten these days that it probably would be hardly used. But perhaps it would inspire me to cook more?! I must think about it. Focaccia bread is always delicious, and I often enjoy a nice sandwich for my meal, mostle with lots of cheese and tomatoes! It's very warm here today, but clouds are starting to pile up and I think we will be experiencing the storms they forecasted. Have a great day, take care, hugs! xxxxxxx
