T sTands for caTs

Hi Everybody!

Hope your weekend was good. We had very cold but sunny weather on Friday and Saturday, great for walking, but on Sunday it was just pure November - cold, grey and misty. But I did enjoy the 2 sunny days, that's always a wondefrul gift at this time of year. And I enjoyed a wonderful visit to the Art Fair on Friday, so that was another gift on top of it all!

It's time for another challenge at Tag Tuesday, beginning Monday evening. Wendy is our host, and has chosen the lovely theme of cats, so hope to see lots of you joining in and enjoying some feline fun. My tag is made with elements from Serif, Mischief Circus and me:

It's also time for Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so here a warm welcome to all of the lovely ladies of the T Gang who visit here.

At the art fair we had lots of possibilities to drink coffee:

On Friday  my friend Nelya invited me to visit the 'Art Düsseldorf' fair, and she organised the tickets for us. I went to her place for breakfast, and then we took the tram to the art fair, which is held in an old steel factory, a wonderful ambiance for showing art.
This is where we left the tram:

 This is the entrance:

We had to walk past the old pipes and steel sheds:

The chimney is still there:

I loved being able to see the old architectural elements everywhere in the old halls where once steel was melted and formed:

A giant teapot, more than 5 feet high, perhaps too big for TSFT:

And a glass which could make people think they'd had a drop too much:

There were lots of 'selfie' installations where we had fun - here we are taking pics of each other and both visible thanks to the mirrors:

Funny faces:

I like this wood-relief carving:

Do you know how these objects were made?

Here's the answer:

We both enjoyed seeing and being seen:

Colourful junk-art:

I'm not sure I would want these 2 as neighbours:

Dig those shoes!

This was one of my fave pieces:

Silk paintings:

Having fun:

Shattered - it wasn't me!

And we got loads of freebies - totes:

Cards, catalogues, sticky notes, journals, stickers:

All of these big, fat art magazines, wow!

Posters and more:

I have heaps of inspiration and materials for mixed media work!

I will share the other pics another day, too much is too much!

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  1. What a fantastic post Valerie. I love the kitty tag. Nice challenge, nd I have a cool cat sitting on my work table right now. (yahoo) And that art fair looks fabulous. My daughter is big into legos and it was super to see the Lego artwork. Plus you now have some reading, looking and probably some bits for some of your future art. That is exciting. Have a wonderful start to your week. Hugs-Erika

Love that cool cat on the tag, she's got glasses and an expression just like yours! Such fun! Thanks for sharing all the photos. Need to get food on the table now, the kids will soon be arriving and they are always famished. Hugs, Sarah

  11. The art fair looks like it offers something for everyone -such a variety of works, and the architectural environment alone looks worth the trip. And now I think I'll have another cup of coffee to warm me on this chilly day. At least it's sunny here :) Happy T Day!

  14. Adorable cat tag, Valerie. I'm sure, as a photography pro, you noticed or planned how perfectly the love and coffee sign coordinated and segued to heart swirled cappucino. Very cool.

The expo is very cool as well. I never would have guessed Legos. I bet Kathy will love the fabric wall hanging.

Great post! And you got lots of fun reading material to flip through at the expo and perhaps fodder for your art too.

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx

  15. Bleubeard LOVES your cat tag. He gives it two paws up. I love it, too. It's such a cute cat and I would LOVE to be able to join in this next two weeks, if possible.

What a fabulous coffee house. Fresh beans and all. This would definitely be my kind of place.

I am so glad you and Nelya went to the art fair. That rusty smokestack called my name, too. AWESOME, and you weren't even inside yet. I love the junk art, the mirrors, and your selfies. Those Lego paintings were out of this world. You would never have convinced me that was how they were made, they were SO clever. You got a LOT of wonderful collage fodder, too. I was impressed with all the handouts you got.

Thanks for sharing your PURRFECT cat tag, your beautiful photos of the art show, and your coffee at the art fair with us for T this Tuesday.

  23. Wow, that was an amazing exhibition you visited Valerie. The photos looked awesome, I think you may still have many more stored in the camera. You will perhaps guess that one of my favourites was the giant teapot. Now that would hold quite a sizable brew.
It was a good amount of freebies you got to take home, so useful for crafters.
The selfie photos looked good as well.
The tag with the cat looks fantastic, really cute in his glasses.
    Happy T day wishes Valerie.

  24. Your tag looks great. I need to try to make something for the challenge. I like how they make a heart in the cappuccino. Great architecture at that repurposed factory. Great chimney. I like how you can see the interior of the building. Wonderful art fair. And it's always great when they have freebies. I love tote bags, and that assortment of magazines was a treasure to receive. Happy T-Day!

  25. Valerie,

It looks like y'all had such great fun. Some of the pix made me smile. That's one very tall chimney. There's an old steel mill not far from our home but I don't think it has/had a big smoke stack. I'm not sure if it's still active, either. But, I remember in the 80s passing by it I could see fire sparks. It sorta fascinated me. Thanks for sharing your fun with me. Have a grand day. :)

Such a fabulous art exhibition, it looks like you had lots of fun with your friend looking around. Sending you Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x

No I couldn't walk on those platform shoes either.
You had a great day out with Nelya. Thanks for sharing.
