Hi Everybody!
Here's wishing you all a great September.
I have an autumn tag to share today, which I am linking to Simon Monday Challenge, fall/autumn. I used a scrap of painted paper to make the background, which was then sewn onto some gold corrugated card. I added leaves picked up on my walks - we already have lots of brown ones due to the hot summer - and glazed and glittered them. I added more scraps and some mini fabric leaves and found feathers. The image is from TH, the broom is from my stash. Is the broom to sweep up the leaves or to remind us that it's not long till Halloween now?
Tomorrow is Elizabeth's 2nd on the 2nd, so here are 2 paintings made three years back. The first was inspired by Van Gogh, with 2 of my fave figures placed in the picture:
And this one was an attempt to copy a Modigliani portrait:
The photos were taken on a walk at the same time as the above paintings were made:
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Beautiful and striking post and scary to realise how quickly this year has flown, our spring is here today..x
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your spring, I'm looking forward to autumn
DeleteGood morning Val! You were evidently up bright and early again. I was woken up by squabbling kids today, nothing new there! Love the autumn tag, and I know how you always look forward to Halloween. The 'repeat' pieces are both wonderful, and I love the figures in the first one - Mary Poppins meets van Gogh! Great photos, as always. Have a great weekend, hope the sun is shining for you as it is here. Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteGoodmorning Valerie
ReplyDeleteThe tag is amazing with ideas that are truly brilliant. Autumn has arrived early here and it is so cold today after the heat of late.
It is so good to see your pieces from the past again. Clever how you can copy old masters or do artwork in their style. Both so well done.
Your photgraphs from the past were really good but the ones you take and show to us now, are so much clearer -off to see if my photography skills have improved over the years--not sure they have :(
Have a great weekend
Love Chrissie xx
Love your tag and all your art Valerie - no faves today as they are all lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was turning over my wooden calendar blocks earlier to September - it has December on one the four sides and I thought - autumn will be soon and Christmas not that far off either :)
Have a lovely weekend.
Gill xx

ReplyDeleteThe meteorological autumn begins on September 1st, but a lot of people count from the 23rd. It's my fave season.
DeleteHappy September to you too Valerie and what a great post to kick it off xx I adore your makes and that wonderful autumnal tag looks great, especially like the paper doll with her hand on the broom xx

ReplyDeleteWow -- I think you out-Modigliani Modligiani! I love his work and I love your version. The colors are fabulous. Love all the work here today -- the Mary Poppins/Bowler guy (beautiful photography work on these, by the way, shooting at different angles) and I liked the spooky tag very much!
ReplyDeleteLovely autumn tag and paintings. Yes, we look to fall now. Beautiful photos.

Your autumn tag has me in the mood for one of my two favorite seasons, spring and autumn. It is a genuine beauty and I love everything about it. The little boy with his broom is so clever, and the leaves and feathers make it a genuine joy.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember the Mary Poppins/Umbrella man Van Gogh, but that's not to say I didn't see it. I DO remember the Modigliani, and think now as I did then, that it is fabulous. You do Modigliani so well! Thanks for bringing these two paintings back for us to appreciate as your second look on the 2nd.
I loved seeing your sheep from back then and that lovely home. It's always a joy to take a walk with you in your neighborhood.
Beautiful Tag! Love the paintings too! Enjoyed the photos from your walk. Thanks for taking us along :) Have a wonderful weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteYour autumnal tag looks absolutely fantastic, love all the added textures and sparkly bits! The Van Gogh and Modigliani pieces look super too, very creative and doing great justice to those two artist!
ReplyDeleteIt is a gorgeous autumnal tag Valerie, I liked the addition of the broom to sweep the leaves. The weather is changing here as the tress already are dropping there leaves.
ReplyDeleteA super revisit to your older post, fabulous paintings.
Yvonne xx
I love the seasonal changes, and it's clear Autumn is coming. I like the layering -I always fail at making my attempts not look messy- and I love the variety of leaves and how you used them. I'll ride the broom to Halloween ;) My walks never include sights like these. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteWith Autumn just around the corner, I think that's a lovely autumn tag.
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to see your selection of photographs.
Happy September
All the best Jan
Love the tag Valerie. Fall will be here soon, won't it? I love all the details you used. And I looked at the TH found relative and my first thought was about a student I had had. Looks just like the boy you used. Nice second on the second too. I remember them both, but it is always good to see them again. And as usual, great photos again. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika. You enjoy your weekend, too!

ReplyDeleteYour pages are brilliant! I LOVE the autumn one (very artistic), but the Van Gogh altered page and the Modigliani-type image are SUPER!
