Hi Everybody!
For Art Journal Journey, inspired by autumn colours, Moo Mania and More, layers and Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin, I made an A4 mixed media journal page. The central part was made with various elements and brushes, layered digitally. I placed it on an A3 page painted with black gesso over sage green, into which I stamped to repeat the pattern on the page. I added some fairy dust for a bit of sparkle. I used my photo of the moon as 'halo' around the African mask.
For 99 faces I made a hybrid page. The background was painted with acrylics and sprinkled with glitter. I added some freebie brushes digitally, and my photo of the statue of the girl. The face is my drawing.

A herd of sheep was grazing along the Rhine near here today, so I went to visit them. There was a huge number of seagulls flying around, it was great to see them flying and swooping in their formations.
As I went over the meadows down to the Rhine I startled this wild goose, which flew up from almost under my feet, squawking very loudly:
And then all his mates took flight and joined in, too. I had fun watching them swoop around.

ReplyDeleteThose sheep have such long ears. Must be a different variety than we have here that have short perkier little ones. And the seagulls swooping are cool. I must say I love your Africa piece. Those elephants and the mask are very unusual for journal pages-at least for what I usually see on the internet. Great job!

ReplyDeleteI stopped by earlier and fell asleep with your blog post sitting on my screen. When I woke with my face nearly in my keyboard, I felt like a fool.
ReplyDeleteElephants are so intriguing and the spread you created is just gorgeous. That mask is scary, and rather effective.
I thought the face you created had a glow to her cheek. At least that's how it looked on my monitor.
I'm with Erika. Those are different sheep than I've ever seen. They are definitely wooly and will have lots to give next spring. I'm off to bed for proper sleep now.
Sorry you fell asleep, it must have been the African magic...

Today's photographs are terrific. I have never seen sheep like those before it makes you feel warm just looking at their wooliness

Wonderful art Valerie, I really love the African page, a country I've yet to visit. Don't think I've ever seen such long eared sheep and they're definitely not as woolly as our ones. Arctic winds heading our way tonight so I think we'll all need to look out our woolly jumpers! Xx

ReplyDeleteValerie it is always a pleasure to visit your blog. I swallow all the gorgeous art but i also travel to your Rhine virtually :) Your sheeps look quite different than ours. Yours have curly, wild hair on their heads :) I liked the African page, the animals and the colors all. So warm and inviting.

Love the art today :) Africa has always fascinated me ♥ Great photos again today. I love watching flocks of birds in flight. I was fortunate enough to see a very large flock today and they were dancing all over the place before finally landing in a field. I had to pull off to the side of the road to watch them.

ReplyDeleteI wonder what Africa does look like in Autumn. Nice to see what it really is like I would think. So different from here. Hunting of wild ducks is going on here, that's a wonderful flock. Hope they escape to where they want to be. xox
ReplyDeleteI also really like the colours, especially in the second piece. I love the photo of the long earned sheep grazing in the green countryside. The photos of "your wild ducks" look like Canada Geese to me, with their long necks, black on their necks and long wings.
