An Autumn Journal

Hi Everybody!
I made this journal as part of my guest DT work for Gecko Galz, but didn't get round to showing it till now.
The papers used for the covers, inside and out,  the tag pockets and the little illustrations in between are all from Gecko Galz collage sheets. I used cardboard from an old painting pad for the covers, and distressed the edges, after gluing on the papers, with DI in wild honey, rusty screw and Inka gold. I tied the book together with ribbons, as I noticed after I had punched the holes, that I didn't have wires in the right size. This is a great alternative, as it gives a much softer finish and the book always opens flat. I have just shown a few of the pages here, so as not to make the post too long.

I am linking to Artful times - Autumnal Colours

On my walk through the park I discovered lots of mushrooms /toadstools.
This is the biggest puffball I have seen there till now,  much larger than a football!
I think they are edible, but I left it there!

And there were lots of ink-caps in various stages of growth and decay:

I love the view from above, it looks like an UFO!

Have a good day you all, take care, and thanks a lot for coming by!

  4. Sweet book. Love the ribbon as binding. Super photos too. I've noticed we seem to have a lot more mushrooms around too especially as I'm trying to keep Jess our puppy away from them. I wouldn't know what is edible and what isn't!

  7. Hi Valerie, Your journal is beautiful. You always have the best details to accent your creations.
The mushroom pics are so interesting. They are beautiful in their own right. I love mushrooms, the edible variety. My grandpa used to pick mushrooms and I remember they would boil them in water to see if they were poisonous or not. Something with the water turning black to know. Not sure, but I was really young. We all ate them, and no one got sick!!
Your pics are so unique and that one does look like a UFO.
Have a great week and Happy Creating.
    Hugs!

  18. This book is just fantastic, I like that it opens out with the ribbon binding and the way you have illustrated the pages, and pockets in books are always fun. I also like the way you use everyday objects in your art (here, cardboard from an old painting pad). Thanks too for the mushroom photographs, I always like to see mushrooms in the garden although we never eat any.

Thanks for entering into the Artful Times challenge and thank you for taking us on your journey through fairyland. I am sure there are many fairies, elves and such hiding amongst those gorgeous ink caps.

  23. Ups, hier hätte ich ja fast was übersehen.
