Happy New Year!

Hi everybody! This will be the last post in this year, so hope you all have a happy and healthy new year, and manage to make some of your dreams come true.
We have had a lot of rain to end the year here, with the Rhine looking very swollen and lots of fields under water. I took these pics when I was out for a walk on Boxing Day.

The trees have got wet feet....

The Rhine has already started to flood the shore on the other side....

The bushes next to the tow-path are already under water....

The gangway usually goes down steeply to the ships....

These are the slots to hold the steel flood-doors if the water is threatening the town....

Today it  stayed mostly dry, and the sun came out occasionally. I love the pictures of the evening sky in winter!

Enjoy your New Year celebrations, have fun, but take care!
Thanks for visiting and for your support all year!

  2. Happy New Year to you too, Valerie! We have a lake nearby, but live slightly uphill, so it will never flood us. The town is also able to release some of the water if the level gets too high. Hugs for a Happy 2013!

  7. It does look at little damp over there, Valerie. You'll be needing your wellies. There is rain in the forecast here a couple days from now - may be time to turn on the fireplace then. May 2013 restore your health so you may fully enjoy your life, and have some fun. Happy New Year's Eve. hugs, Donna

  13. Happy New Year to you too Val. Hope you have a healthy and peaceful one. The rain is bad here too with floods everywhere but our rivers are small compared to the mighty Rhine! Thank you for all your lovely comments on my blog this year, hopefully I'll be able to blog more in 2013.

  17. What beautiful photos of the Rhine! I know it is swollen so probably not so great to those living near it but your photos capture how I remember the Rhine looking from my travels many years ago. Happy New Year!

  21. Happy 2013 to you as well Valerie. I haven't been blogging for a few days as my daughter and SIL are staying with us. I am catching up this morning while they are still in bed.

Hope the water has decided to go away though it is the same in the UK at the moment.

    Love Chrissie xx
