Hi Everybody!
I'm happy to say that today is a tad cooler, it's cloudy, and doesn't feel so scorching. Today I 'only' have 28° inside, and although that's still hot, it feels wonderful in comparison to the weekend. The pieces I am showing today were made during one of the lessons in the Kaleidascope taster, and I think it was from Jenny Grant, but I really can't remember. We made a large masterboard collage using recycled paper or card and were supposed to cut it into 4 pieces. But I decided to cut mine into several different pieces:
This was one of my fave pieces:
I like the face and flowers, too:
This was just a smear of black paint put on with a scraper and somehow it looked like a figure:
This one was sort of tag shape:
I like this one, too, although it's not straight:
I added some gold wax which I wiped on to give some shine:
And as I couldn't sleep because of the heat I was on the balcony and took pics of the sunrise. I was happy to see the clouds, but we haven't had a drop of rain. The Rhine is only 43cms deep just now, and we have 'islands in the stream' as well:
And a couple of funnies:
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Lovely pages, enjoyed the photos and the funnies haha. Wow the Rhine is so low.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine. The Rhine is really low, unbelievable! We need a lot of rain!
DeleteWe all should shine.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
That is so right! Have a great day!
DeleteLoved the funnies, beautiful artwork and stunning photos!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday, Valerie.
Thanks Veronica! Have a great week, hugs!
DeleteHi Val, good morning! I hope it has cooled off a bit here. I know how hot your flat is. We are more used to British rain and cold than tropical heat! I took the liberty of getting you a new fan, it should reach you by tomorrow at the latest! Enjoy! Hugs from us all, Sarah
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah, you are too kind! I'm speechless! Thanks so much. I will let you know when it comes! Hugs to you all!
DeleteI like your masterboard project
ReplyDeleteI recently signed up for a class but in the first lesson she called for more black paint than i have ever seen! So, I stopped.
Sitting under the blessing of a sea fog today. Sending cooling vibes your way!
Hi Deb! Just thinking of sea fog is cooling - enjoy! Tooo much black paint is never good, I prefer colours! Have a cool day, hugs!
DeleteI like what you did with your artwork. Love your sunrise. Thanks for the funnies.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy, have a wonderful day, hugs!
DeleteI am glad that it is getting a little cooler for you, Valerie. Twenty-eight degrees is still too warm but it is at least manageable. We are on the downslide to September and cooler temperatures should be in store. As far as I know humans have not yet interfered with the tilt of the earth's axis! Your artwork looks very splendid and the black daubing does give the impression of a tall, austere man. As you might surmise, I am very happy that you have included a Bald Eagle today. It is a magnificent bird and one that I see quite frequently. Yesterday I did a presentation on the different systems of mating employed by birds to a packed hall of senior citizens. The title is "Sex and the Single Bird" and that alone draws them in! Perhaps it would be appropriate to play that old song, "Memories are made of this". You never know, though, maybe some are creating new ones! I see that some kind and generous bloggers have sent you a new fan. How very considerate of them. Be sure to take pictures. Hugs and kisses - David
ReplyDeleteHi David. I was out with a friend this morning, I accompanied her to the doctor's. It was very hot, and there were so many wasps everywhere. We sat down near the Rhine for a coffee, and when I got back home I fell asleep and just woke up - the day is nearly gone! Sex and the single bird sounds good, what a great title, I would have registered for the talk, too! My friend Sarah in Frankfurt has bought a new fan for me, it will be here tomorrow morning, she is so sweet! Have a great day, take care, BIG hugs!
Deletei adore those sun sets photos

DeleteI like how you play with paper, always creating something new and different. I hope you get some rain soon and fill up the Rhine.
ReplyDeleteI hope so, too. It's not usual for Europe at all - times are changing!
DeleteI like how you play with paper, always creating something new and different. I hope you get some rain soon and fill up the Rhine.

Thanks Quinley, much appreciated!
DeleteWhat a wonderful project that was. I loved it -- in every single way. All the pieces tell such a personal story. Beautiful work as always, Valerie.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanie, glad you like it!
DeleteLove your cutting up of your original large piece.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous project that was and I agree with you cutting yours as you wanted, it must depend on the layout of the original in a way. I so enjoyed every piece you cut as each stood alone perfectly.
Hope you are feeling well, think of you often,
Hugs, Neet xx
