Weekend post

 Hi Everybody!

It's weekend - enjoy! Here it's cold and crisp but with sunshine today, so definitely weather I like - just right for walking.

Today I have another piece to share inspired by Andrea Gomoll's lesson in the Lifebook taster sessions. Andrea made the elf into a wand, but I decided to make it into an autumn wreath, as I discovered lots of die-cut and painted leaves and flowers tucked away in a box, and wanted to use them. The wreath is made from Styrofoam, painted and glittered. I cut out the elf and put her is the middle:






Then I started to think about how I could change it into a journal page for Tracey's challenge at AJJ. So I magicked the photo into my graphics programme and digitally cut it out. Then I added a window frame with blue skies outside and put a virtual nail into the virtual frame to hang up my virtual wreath - done!



And I have a last tag for Sandie's bookpaper challenge at Tag Tuesday, this time a Christmas one - Christmas is coming nearer!

    Once again, you have a plethora of art to share. I saw that little elf, but knew I'd probably never be able to draw it. You did a clever job and later turned it into a great journal page for Wendy's theme at AJJ. Thanks for this fun entry, dear.

    I love your Christmas tag. It's wonderful. I know this is going to sound crazy, but can you tell me what the E and R stand for in the King/Queen realm. I see it everywhere when I see Queen Elizabeth, the palace, and even the letter boxes like the one you used.

    I was so pleased to see some of these great journal pages, many of which I've seen in the past. However, it's great to see so many of them together in one post. Thanks for sharing so many of your wonderful autumn inspired journal pages with us as your second look on the 2nd.

    Your sky shots are amazing. It actually looks like autumn is starting to arrive in your area, dear. Lovely, lovely photos.

      Thanks Elizabeth. The letters on the pillar box are for the first letter of the monarch's name, the Roman numerals for the oder of the name, here for 'second', as Elisabeth is the 2nd queen of that name, and R for Regina - queen, or Rex if it's a male monarch! So it reads 'Elisabeth 2nd Queen'. We have autumn temps here the leaves are falling! Have a great day!

    Your elf wreath is cute and clever to hang it in the "window". The music paper challenge would make a perfect Christmas card. The European Robin is so much cuter than the American Robin. Love that pink and purple sky, too. Enjoy the weekend.

    Pretty smart that you did a two-for-one deal here, Valerie. Going down the images I see lots of birds starting with that poster bird, European Robin, much featured on everything from Christmas cards to baked goods. If only they got royalties! There'd be no more grubbing in the dirt for worms. Gilded perches and servants to bring tasty tidbits of all kinds would be the norm. I notice above that CJK comments that your robin is cuter than ours. Our robin is not a robin. It is a thrush Turdus migratorius, in the same genus as your blackbird Turdus merula. Early European settlers, awash with nostalgia for what they had left behind and in those days would never see again, called the first thing they saw with a red breast a robin. Then you follow with others birds, the aforementioned European Blackbird, Mallard, a House Sparrow and herons. What taste you have. No doubt at some point in the future, on your peregrinations around Balconia-by-the-Rhine, you will discover exotic species never before seen in the wider world. How exciting that will be!       Thanks David. the robins would indeed be rich if they were given royalties for all the times they are used. I didn't know that the American robin isn't a robin, thanks for the explanation! We have lots of beautiful birds here, and as you know, I like to include their photos in my art. And as you know, I am a specialist for the exotic bird life of Balconia....Have a great weekend, take care, hugs to you both!

    Another wonderful art post Valerie. That is a wonderful autumn wreath, and this is really clever how you used a digital picture of it and made a journal page. I love it, especially that cute autumn elf. And all those beautiful second on the second autumn scenes are worth another look. I hope your weather settles down.     Gorgeous past Autumn pages, I especially like the one with the cranes in silhouette. Silhouette works so well against the oranges of autumn. I adore your little elf in the centre of your new garland and what a lovely journal page it has made for you.

    I love your elf wreath, Valerie. I have one twenty-plus year old wreath that I hang at Christmas. I'm in awe of people like you who can create such lovely wealths and other pieces of art.
