Midweek Post

Hi Everybody!

Hope your week is going well. I was hoping to go home today, but have to stay in the clinic for another week, as I still have an inflammation of the pancreas. Just one more week!

I made this piece for my heavy metal challenge and forgot to post it! It was stenciled with gold paint onto black card, but however I try to take a photograph, it looks blue, sorry!

Some photos from Düsseldorf taken in  March 2015:

The old planetarium, now a concert hall:

This is an animated clock - at the stated times the doors open and  Schneider (Tailor) Wibbel can be seen sewing:

This is on the corner of a bank - This fairy tale will never come true, life teaches us to be clever and save money!

The Altstadt as it used to be:

The Town Hall:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  5. It's so annoying when our cameras don't get the colours, but even so it still looks lovely. Very regal in royal blue and gold! Great landscapes and cityscapes. I do so love the shapes and interest created in architecture. Sending healing vibes for you to heal completely this week. Hugs, Deb

p.s. did you know that cranes have returned to nest in the UK, or so I read last week?

Your artwork is lovely and some pretty stenciling! Super pictures. That animated clock looks so fun, love the bank fairy tale sign, and the other fab details in the city. Amazing stuff. Makes me want to get a better camera and pay more attention in life! Hugz

  12. Your creation today, Valerie, is exceptional even for you, talented Frau Professor that you are. It looks like it would have a rightful place on the lid of a box of liqueur-filled dark chocolates of very high quality. That image would pull me right in. The scenes from Düsseldorf are lovely and give us a glimpse into a city I am sure that most of us have never visited. It is interesting that the observatory has been turned into a concert hall. In Toronto, the observatory where I used to take my daughter when she was a little girl, has been decommissioned too, and has been incorporated into the adjacent Royal Ontario Museum, modified no doubt. It's curious that two major cities converted their observatories. Perhaps they are no longer attractions for the public, and are probably not needed in this modern age of space exploration with superior equipment. One more week in the clinic and then it will be back home for you, Valerie. Spring will be in full bloom. What a wonderful time to return home. Hugs and kisses. David

    1. Thanks David! Liqueur-filled dark chocolates sound yummy, what a great idea! The planetarium was too small for today's requirements, and there is a much larger and more modern one in a local town, but as a concert hall it's great and has a fabulous acoustic . Yes, one more week! I am looking forward to it! Have a great day, take care, hugs to you and M!

Love these pics of Dusseldorf - lots to see! Hope your last week in the clinic is a good one! Hugs, Chrisx

  22. You take care of yourself Valerie and definitely take time to heal, your little home will be waiting for you when the time comes. That's a lovely page, rich in colour and design. Gold is not an easy colour to photograph especially with a darker background but I think you did a grand job capturing it. You have so many lovely pics to look back on those sunrise and fall ones always amaze me.
Take care now, sending healing hugs Tracey xx

  25. It sounds like a very serious reason for them to keep you, dear. You can make it another week. After all, they are feeding you and giving you lots of coffee. The only sad thing is you can't set your own hours, which kills me when I can't be up all night. I really like your Buddha surrounded by the gold lotus flowers. It is a stunning entry, and I also know how hard it is at times to get true color from our lenses.

Still loving the architecture of Dusseldorf and the Alstadt. Love the second looks you are sharing.

  27. I'm so sorry you don't get to go home just yet Valerie, but you are in the best place and it will do you good to be looked after for a little while longer. Your Buddha looks fabulous in either black or blue! I bet the planetarium makes a fabulous concert hall. The Town Hall looks magnificent. I worked in Wakefield all my working life and watched it turn into a city of pound shope and charity shops, but our Town and County Halls still look wonderful - at least from the outside. Take care and have a great week xx
