T stands for a Sunday OuTing

Hi Everybody!

Hope your week got off to a good start. We had a weekend of glorious weather. Today is a bit cooler but still very pleasant, and I was able to enjoy my walk.
Yesterday I went on an outing with some friends to the neighbouring town of Duisburg - more about that later!

At Tag Tuesday we are beginning a new challenge:

-Black and white and a spot of colour-

Tags of all formats are allowed, and as always, you have two weeks to link your creations to us. There will be a little prize this time, too, for one lucky participant. I made a tag with an elegant evening outfit in black. It's years since I wore anything like that as I find my baggy old jeans more comfortable for every day:

It is also half time at TIOT's 'recycle something' challenge, and here I have another recycled/upcycled notebook. I covered the torn and dirty cover with crinkly bronze paper, added some bronze structure paste around the edges, and used an iron on beaded owl to complete the picture:

When we arrived in Duisburg on Sunday, after parking the car our thoughts turned to food and drink to fortify ourselves for the walk through the masses of people who were there to enjoy all the fun of the fair, lots of good things to eat and a well stocked artisan market. We started off with rolls filled with freshly fried fish, with Turkish baklava for dessert.  Then we went across to another cafe for some cappuccino. Today is Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so here a warm welcome to all of the nice ladies of the T Gang .

The fish booth:

Crepes:

Bavarian specialities:

I must say that we did not stop at every eatery we saw along the way!

There were lots of good things to see at the artisans' booths - here some cookie moulds:

And some rusty art for Elizabeth:

The opera house:

Carved figures:

Freshly smoked salmon:

To complete the day we went on a boat-trip around the wonderful harbour, but I will show the photos in my next post:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

    Hugs

  4. Such a cool and glamorous card, and your beaded owl is wonderful. Amazing to share in all the delights at the street market - my favourites are all those incredible wood-carved animals. I've missed so much while I was away, but looking forward to doing better now spring is arriving.

  9. Love the tag! What a fun dress. I love all your photos. Those cookie molds really caught my eye. We don't see things like that in the States. We can buy them online but they are very expensive. Looks like you had a fun time on your outing.

  10. I'm with you about the old jeans. I need a nice black and white outfit for Japan and it is quite a problem. So this latest tag challenge is perfect! And I would like that cookie mold stand too. Here they are soooo expensive as they aren't really common. Looks like you had a fun day out and an interesting change of pace. happy T day. hugs-Erika

  18. What a darling tag, Valerie. I haven't worn anything elegant for about 15 years. Me? I go around the house this time of year in short(ish) loose dresses because our weather is already hot.

Very clever way to use up the rhinestone owl. I have a few of those iron-on rhinestone designs too. Maybe mine need recycling as well ;-)

Good for you. I would have been very tempted to stop at evey one of those food booths! I've never seen wooden cookie molds anywhere I've lived and would love to have one - maybe even a collection. I think they're so charming.

Fabulous lion head carving. I wonder how much the artist wanted for it. Probably not enough for the all the work it took to make. Love all the other carvings too - the fish, the owl ...

What a lovely day you had. Thanks for sharing it with us for T.

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

The fair looks like a grand time and I love all of the wood carvings. Wood is one of my favorite mediums to admire and sometimes even purchase... My hands would never let me work with it though :(

  35. Fantastic tag Valerie and it does take me right back to when I actually owned a dress--years ago unfortunately.

I have a lump in my throat after looking at the wonderful photographs. It took me back to when I went at Christmas to a German Christmas market and all the wonderful smells and the small drinks we sampled--forgot how strong they were and had to go for a strong coffee and a sit down. It all looks amazing and thank you for sharing your day.

    Love Chrissie xx
