Hi Everybody!
On Tuesday we are beginning a new challenge at
TIOT - love is in the air. As always, projects of all formats are allowed and you have 2 weeks to link to us.
I made a card, using some bits and bobs sent to me by my dear friend Carolyn 2 years ago. She lost her fight against cancer some time back, and although I cannot send her a card this year, she is in my thoughts and very much missed.
I used some black leather-look paper for the BG. The other parts were sent by Carolyn. The little card on top opens up:
I am also linking to Simon Monday challenge, love is in the air.
Today is also Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so I would like to welcome all of the lovely ladies of the T Gang. My drink is once again cappuccino:
And I tried using up some stamp.rubber sheets and cut some stamps, but this
is not good for my fingers. This one is suitable for today:
And I have some more photos from the zoo. Thanks to Gill
and her husband I now know that these lovely birds are
Inca Terns . Thanks Gill, much appreciated!
Isn't this a cutie....
The owls did not want to wake up:
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by.
its wonderful you have the gifts from a friend to keep her memory alive, I know you must miss her. Your zoo photos are always amazing,, such a diversified group of animals, I have never been to a zoo in my life so I'm enjoying them through your eyes. and Valerie-Jael, I never used to mind clutter and always enjoyed having all of lifes mess around the same as most people but since my eye sight became so bad I found I need everything in its place and clear table tops or I knock things, break things and lose things, lol,, I felt I sounded critical in my blog post the way I said I hate clutter, I guess I do hate it because it causes me embarrassment and just plain pain in the butt because of my stupid eyes lol,, but if I had normal vision I would not be this way,, thank you so much for visiting me,,
ReplyDeleteI can understand this, you need to have order, and you don't need to apologize for stating your needs. My neighbour always has a hissy fit when he sees my clutter!
DeleteYour tribute to your friend, Carolyn, is beautifully thoughtful. Love the zoo pictures. The meerkat looks like he's imitating a groundhog. Hope the meerkat isn't predicting the weather :-D Unless the prediction is Winter is over! Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteNow wouldn't that be great!
DeleteI know how sad you were when Carolyn died, and can understand that you miss her so much. The card is really precious. Love the little'm o cut cup, too. The zoo photos are fantastic as always. Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie oh i am so sad that you lost your lovely friend ,cancer sucks.
ReplyDeleteI really love your card and i always enjoy seeing your pics my friend xx
What a special card and tribute to your dear friend.
ReplyDeleteI loved the cups-that is cute with the photo in the first one.
Really enjoyed the zoo photos, it looks like a really great zoo for the animals. I am thinking the owls are usually more active at night time.
Happy T Day Kathy
You made a very special card to remember your friend. Friends are dear to us and become part of our lives like our families.
ReplyDeleteMore wonderful photos from the zoo, the sculpture looked interesting, but I really do love the owls today.
Your cuppa looks very inviting and it was super how you added the photo in the spoon.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx

ReplyDeletewie goldig die Herzlovekarte ist und in deiner Kaffeetasse ein Herz von dir wie süss und die gemalte Tasse mit dem Finger.
ReplyDeleteWunderschön auch die Tiere aus dem Zoo!!!
Lieben Gruss Elke
a beautiful card which also holds lovely memories of your dear friend. Love the drink with the photo on the spoon. Have no idea how that's done. Such wonderful zoo photos. The animals are all adorable to me. Wishing you happy T day!
ReplyDeleteI LLLLLLLLLOVE your card, Valerie! And the photos are beautiful, as always, my friend. But most of all I enjoyed your photo in the spoon! Sooooooo funny and original! Kisses, my friend.

ReplyDeleteHappy tea day,
Kate
What a fabulous tribute to your friend, Carolyn. I can tell how much you miss her, and how well you are keeping her memory alive. It's a lovely tag and homage to her.
ReplyDeleteThe animal photos are fabulous. The meerkats are Sally's favorite animals, so the one little guy/gal won my heart. I also loved the statues, especially the one with the animals. There was a LOT to see at that zoo and I enjoyed all the photos.
Not sure which I liked better, the cup with your face in the spoon, or the rubber you turned into a mug. They were both incredible and show how very diverse you are.
Thanks for sharing your art, the zoo photos, and your cup and handmade stamp with us for T this Tuesday.
Oh, my goodness! I am really enjoying looking at your zoo photos! Love the one near the top of the three birds, and the adorable hippo! Your cappuccino looks good, and what a cute valentine! :) Happy T Day!

ReplyDeleteVery clever T photo today Valerie. I love it! The pink polka dot background is cheery too and perfect! And sorry to hear about your friend Carolyn. Cancer is such a terrible disease. And I do love your zoo photos. You got to see snowy owls! Even if they didn't open their eyes. :) Lucky you. Hope you are having a great T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteYes, those owls made me very happy!
DeleteLovely card and more of your fab photos too. Lovely way to remember your friend
ReplyDeleteJoan

ReplyDeleteThe white owl is especially stunning! Happy Tea Day!
What a sweet way to remember a dear friend. Your coffee cup stamp is striking! I enjoy your zoo photos. The birds are among my favorite exhibits :) Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeleteLove everything about your post this week!!! The art is beautiful in it's simplicity and love that you keep your friend with you by using her gifts. The zoo pictures are amazing ♥♥♥ Owls are such mystic creatures and love the Elephant photo. Love all of the statuary they have too. It's been forever since I've been to a zoo and we have a great one here.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I am getting better but I over did things yesterday so today I'm dragging. The doc said that this could go on for two more weeks :( Such encouraging news. BLAH!
DeleteMy cold and cough lasted 5 weeks, and you need to take care of yourself so it doesn't come back again.
Sabine
A fabulous romantic card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tribute to Carolyn. Using items she sent you must have evoked very mixed emotions. I love the photo heart in your cup of cappuccino.
ReplyDeleteThe zoo photos are fabulous! The terns are such a brilliant blue and the chickens are beautifully colored too. Meerkats are always delightful to see.
Happy T-day, Valerie! Hugs, Eileen

ReplyDeleteThe card you made in tribute to your friend Carolyn is very touching. My "Carolyn's" name is Gale... college roommate, maid of honor, longtime friend... and like your Carolyn, a victim of cancer a couple years back. We'll never forget them and their courageous battle.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet card. Important to remember our friends and loved ones!
ReplyDeleteFun pictures from the zoo. I always thought hippos were peaceful- but in the last year I have learned a lot about them. Not as sweet as they look! Beautiful birds too. :)
