This and that and some more

Hi Everybody!

In the past couple of weeks I have been re-creating some pieces
for my family scrapbook. I rashly gave some pages
away last year, so have been redoing them from
photo. Here I have a mixed media 8x8" piece using
a substrate of partly peeled, painted, stamped
and collaged cardboard. The photo is Erika, and I don't
know why she looks rather green here, as it is
sepia - possibly just the light reflecting on the glass. I
sewed all the layers together. The fountain pen
has been stamped, fussy cut and given a coat
of glossy accents.
I am linking to Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva
and Kristin, to Art Journal Journey, Gill' s theme of
grunge and elegance, and to Creative Artiste Mixed Media.

I discovered this 'street art' from young artists on my
way to the clinic:

And here are some more photos of the exhibition in
the old gasometer in Oberhausen (Ruhr Valley)

Here's my friend Miss N adding to the photos:

More photos to follow!

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  20. Oh this is so lovely Valerie with all the wonderful ephemera and fab details and such a sweet photo of Erika.
I don't know why some colours don't show correctly sometimes - it's frustrating and why sepia would show as green is weird.
I don't like to alter photos of my pages but one I did that should have been green showed as blue (or might have been other way) and I ended up editing to look like it was in reality.
That was a different kind of exhibition - unusual but great photos.
The street art was fun - kids don't seem to have chalks and draw on pavements like they did years ago.
Hope you have a good day and wonderful weekend...
    Gill xx

  21. I love all of the little details on your scrap page! I really love the way you did the stitching around the edges, and added the cute little button. So nice! I'm so behind on my scrapbook. I kept up with it until my daughter was one or so but now she's 4 and I haven't touched it in all that time. lol!

  22. Hi Valerie1 WOW! Your work of art is absolutely gorgeous. It doesn't even look like a scrapbook page - it is a beautiful work of art. I just love all of your amazing little artistic details. And I especially enjoyed seeing the street art by little, budding artists!! Thanks for sharing the interesting and beautiful photos of the exhibition. Another WOW!

  24. Lovely page with the photo of Erika, a treasure to keep. Love the young street art - when we were kids we would have been told off for chalking on the pavement!

  36. This post could be called a contradiction. First is the beautiful entry for AJJ and others with beautiful Erika and your fabulous sewing. It is certainly elegant and beautiful. The copper holder provided the exact amount of vintage you were going for.

Then there were those scary and very unique photos from the museum. Miss N looked like she was getting into it and was really enjoying herself. Personally, I thought some of those fish were absolutely UGLY and strange.

  37. Love, love, love your journal pages. Also love the fact that you stopped to capture a photo of the sidewalk art. It could have been washed away before anyone saved it.
