Hedgehogs and birds

Hi Everybody!

It was still very hot here again, but from tomorrow it should get
a bit cooler.
For Tag Tuesday, our new theme of animals,
I have made a mixed media tag. The background was gessoed,
painted and textured with a stamp-roller. The birds and
hedgehog were collaged with a paper napkin.
The hedgehog was sent with other wonderful
napkins by our lovely Yvonne, so thanks again! I sewed it onto
2 other layers and added a scrap of  ribbon
as embellishment. I also added some glass seed beads
to the flowers and berries.
And don't forget, you have until next Monday evening
to join in the 'feathered friends' challenge
at TIOT.

I have been looking for shady paths to walk along these past days.
It's mostly pleasant down by the Rhine, and I love to watch
the ships cruising by. The 2 little canoes were faster
than the huge boat:

There is some work going on where the moat used to be,
I wonder what they are doing?

I found some shadow in the porch of the basilica:

The birds who live in this little house even have an address, perhaps
for making sure their tweets arrive?

Have a great day, take care
and thank a lot for coming by!

T stands for a sock that turned into a tag

Hi Everybody!
On Tuesday we are starting a new challenge at
Our lovely Michele is hosting this time, and has chosen
🐻'animals' 🐫
as her theme. The challenge runs for 2 weeks,
and as always, tags of all formats are welcome.
AND
Karen of Lunagirl is kindly sponsoring a wonderful
image sheet for one lucky winner, so hop on over to the blog
for more details.

I once was given a beautiful pair of tiger socks,
with half a tiger's head on each sock, so when you
put your feet together you had a whole tiger....
Well, the wicked washing machine ate one of the
socks, leaving me very sad. So I cut out the tiger
from the left sock and made a tiger-sock
commemoration tag. The wonderful words are
from William Blake, although he spelled tiger
'tyger'. The black card has been re-purposed from
an old calendar:

Today is also Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so I
would like to extend a warm welcome to all
the nice ladies of the T Gang.
I made some cup shapes from one of my photos, so
you are welcome to download the images to
use if you want.
JPEG version (for collage sheets):

 PNG Version (for digital crafting):

And can you imagine what this is? I got it recently for 1€ at
the thrift shop, new and still in its original packaging:

It's a cookie stamp!

And here are some home baked and stamped
chocolate chip cookies - help yourselves!

The hot weather allows us to enjoy coffee outside again:

There is an abundance of flowers everywhere just now:

On Sunday these strangely shaped dark clouds blew over the sky
and brought a lot of rain, but it's back to 32° degrees again:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Vintage and grungy

Hi Everybody!

A couple of weeks back I made this mixed media piece
as a cover for an A5 journal that is almost finished
and looking rather tatty and worn. I started with a tag
made with a stamp from CI, stamped with vintage
photo DI, mounted onto 2 pieces of scrap card and sewn together. The background was stamped with 2 stamps from LaBlanche using the
same colour. It got mounted onto some gessoed corrugated cardboard,
which was smothered with Utee into which I stamped using
diamond and script stamps, also from LaBlanche. I glued
the layers together and sewed them onto some canvas with
fringed edges. I got given a whole roll of ready gessoed
canvas because it was a bit stained and grungy -
perfect!
I am linking to Gill's 'elegance and grunge' challenge at
Art Journal Journey; Tag Tuesday - anything goes, and
Allsorts challenge blog, vintage style.

And I made another digital tag for Go Tag Thursday, countries -
I chose Paris, and made a similar tag to the one from
yesterday.

Yesterday I saw a woodpecker in the tree in the field behind
our garden. I zoomed him in - it's about 50 yards away -
clicked, and he was gone:

Then I saw him come round again from the back of the branch:

And then I got him:

I have some lupins on my rather messy balcony, and the bees
only like the white one:

I tried to find shady ways for my walk today, as it was very hot.
One of the neighbours has this lovely rose hedge:

The horses were also in a shady place:

The farmers have been busy mowing the fields and
making hay while the sun shines....

Here you can buy strawberries, fresh from the fields:

There are loads of wild roses along the Rhine path:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
