Hi Everybody!
It's Friday already, enjoy your weekend!
For Art Journal Journey, the sea, and Paint Party Friday, I have made another sea themed piece. Our challenge at AJJ ends on Sunday evening, so you still have another 2 days to join in if you want to. I made another mixed media piece, using a water-coloured background. I added some scraps of vintage paper - just for fun- and painted a seagull down by the sea. The ships in the harbour have been stamped and colored with inks, as has the town in the background. As the stamp was smaller than my page, I linked it in by adding the hills and fencing along the water. The fish and shells were stamped and coloured. The sentiment is from Tim Holtz. I doodled some plants and birds to finish it off, and that was that.

I altered another Camembert box, this is the last of the three. I used torn, vintage paper to cover the box, and added tissue tape to the sides. Then I painted it with gesso, sprinkled it liberally with Frantage white and gold while it was still wet, and embossed it. Then I threw on a variety of seed pods, dried roses, some textile twigs and a chipboard heart, all painted with or dipped into gesso and embossed with Frantage and/or glitter. I am linking to Anything but cute, vintage garden, and to Mixed media monthly, May flowers
And here are all three together, the other 2 I showed already in detail. They will be going to their new homes in June, to accompany little birthday vouchers.
And I have to show you some pics of the sweet and greedy Jay babies:
Have a great weekend you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Your seaside painting is fabulous, I love the gull. I think the boxes are superb, so pretty. Who would have thought they started out as cheese boxes. We don't get jays here, they are so cute that I wish we did have them.

XO
You've made such a very attractive scene, Valerie, I wonder what the seagull is thinking about in his pause, he's looking good, quite majestic.
ReplyDeleteThese little Jays are fun and look good among your balcony flowers.
Great phrase to go with the lone seagull. Love the page you created for him and your new "sweetheart" box is delightful too. The baby jays are growing and appear more comfortable coming for their morning food. Our golden retriever went to the groomer this morning so I spent the time vacuuming up her dog hair so the house would be nice and clean when she returns. It is amazing how much hair they shed when the warm temperatures arrive. Enjoy your weekend, my friend.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
C
The sea and some lovely glitter, what more could we ask for. Happy Weekend. xox

ReplyDeletesuch beautiful creations, and your photos are as always stunning!!!
ReplyDeletethe boxes are beautiful!
I love the vintage paper addition to the seaside - it almost adds a story... like pirates' treasure might just be hidden somewhere within the painting! Lovely gull too.
ReplyDeleteValerie , you are one prolific and diverse artist! I so enjoy visiting your blog with the combination of art and photography! all threee of your altered boxes are stunning, and I just love the gold and white frantage on this latest one. Must get my hands on some of that! thank you for joining our Vintage Garden challenge with this third lovely transformation at Anything But Cute! Sara Emily DT
ReplyDeletePS Love seeing your jays and of course the beautiful flowers you are raising with tender loving care --especially the one that looks like lobelia. We only have a short window of time that will survive here, so really not worth the investment. Every year I say I'm not getting it since it will die in 3 weeks, and every year I give in! Lovely shade of blue! Thanks for sharing your lovely work with us!
