Hi you all, it's Friday again, and we all know what that means -
Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin. I was very groggy all day yesterday, and didn't get the painting I was working on finished, so I am sharing 2 pics I made some time back. They have been made using the marbling technique, dripping the colours onto a bowl containing wallpaper paste, and then moving the colours around a bit with toothpicks. It's always fun doing this, because you never know how it will really turn out....In these two pictures, which are, of course, completely abstract, I see a Japanese landscape in the first one and a dragon going for a walk in the second. And what can you see?
And I managed 2 ATCs, not much in comparison to what I usually do, but I spent most of the day resting on the couch. The first one is a picture out of my *Pride and Prejudice*, a very nice illustrated edition from 1902. For the second one I used one of the fairy tags Zoe sent me.
I am feeling better today, so hope to be able to get down to a bit of crafting again this afternoon.

Glad you are feeling better today, Valerie. The first two paintings are fascinating, and the method by which they are produced is fascinating as well. I see what you see in both, however, in the second one, I can also see three faces hiding in the bushes, a goat hauling a square cart, a man riding an elephant going away from the viewer, ... should I go on? i could amuse myself for a long time. I must go back and have a longer look at the first painting. Your ATC's are great .. love the pride and prejudice illustration. Beautiful. Take care of yourself today and have some fun. Hi Valerie, Love these paintings, that method sounds like a whole lot of fun:0) I see what you mean about the Japanese landscape, if you turned the painting 45degs to the right it would be an island with a tree, fabulous! I too see the dragon in the second, brilliant LOL The tags are so pretty and I'm sorry that you felt unwell yesterday, I hope today is much, much better, Gay xxx

Hi Valerie. Pleased you are feeling better. Love the first two paintings. First one definately looks like a japanese landscape. I can see waves in the second. Can you see a face at the bottom of the dragons body and also part of a head, with black hair, to the left of that! Super tags.

Before I even read your comments, I loved the first abstract because it totally looks like a windswept tree on a cliff with the ocean below! The second one I don't see a dragon so much - I don't really see anything in particular except a beautiful mix of colors. I love the randomness of this technique. Thanks for continuing to visit me and share your thoughts on my efforts!

I was hoping someone else would've asked this but I guess I'm the only one who doesn't know this process (and many more to boot as I discover each week on PPF!)

ReplyDeleteI hope you are not a shrink and soon to learn how crazy I am because of how I interpret your ink splotches lol! In the first one I see a horse's head with blinders on him, running through a thicket of flowers and leaves on his way to the lovely blue water. The second picture looks like an alligator chasing a strange creature with a big head and a long snake like body, looks like I see a tiny baby critter hiding in the foliage too. Love your beautiful tags. Should I check myself in or wait for my family to have me committed?

ReplyDeleteI definitely see the oriental scene in the first painting. It is truly beautiful. In the second one with the dragon, I also view a dancing ballerina in the blue clouds. I've never attempted this technique.
Your other cards are very nice too. You do exceptional things with tags and ATCs.

I hope you continue to feel better. I see a landscape in the first one, but it needs to be turned 90 degrees clockwise. There is a larger green tree, golden shrubbery, water in front and gray cliffs behind.
