Tuesday/Wednesday post

 Hi Everybody!

Hope your week is going well! Here it is much cooler, which is good, and I am hoping that I can soon really get back to doing more walking when I'm a bit stronger. I'm getting there slowly! Tomorrow I have the second part of the OP at the dentist, where she will cut away the inflamed part of the gums. I'll be happy when it's over!

For Alison's theme at AJJ I have another A3 mixed media journal page:

I love watching the tree behind our back garden and seeing the birds that congregate there. During the day it's mostly pigeons or crows - they don't like each other! In the evening the pigeons spend time there again, and then the magpies:

I love watching the clouds:

I visit the horses on the meadow every day when I walk to the Rhine:

The little park here is full of wild flowers:

Watching the Rhine is another of my hobbies:

Have a great day, take care,

and thanks a lot for coming by!

T sTands for Tag Tuesday and More

 Hi Everybody!
Hope your weekend was good. I am happy to say that things have cooled down here, and for me, it's a great improvement.
Today - this evening - we are starting a new challenge at Tag Tuesday, and this time our lovely Wendy is hosting and has chosen the theme 'ladybirds', or ladybugs as they are called on the other side of the big pond. As always, tags of all formats are welcome, and you have 2 weeks to link to us. The challenge goes live at 9 p.m.
I made a hybrid tag, using a hand-painted background and images from Serif:

And  we are also  celebrating Elizabeth's TSFT link party, where we share drink related objects / themes. So here a warm welcome to all of the lovely ladies of the T Gang. I have a double page from one of my mixed media journals, which I am linking to AJJ:

Last week after my first walk to the Rhine I stopped at this café for a cappuccino. It's a nice place to sit, and shady, and good for people watching:

But the coffee was not worth the price. Thin and tasteless - I will not stop there again:

The neighbours downstairs are cat lovers:

A neighbour bought me a bag of zoo animals. I will keep them for when I have kids visiting:

Beautiful sunrise scenes:

Crows looking for food on the fields:

The sparrowhawk was not shy. It watched me, but let me take photos:

Driving onto the ferry:

A glimpse through the trees:

As I took this photo a wasp stung my finger:

On Sunday afternoon the parakeets/ green parrots were flying around. There is a large colony of free-living parakeets in Düsseldorf. They live mostly in Nord Park and Hofgarten, and in winter they sleep in the trees along Königsallee, the most exclusive street in the town, and always very well lit with hundreds of lights, which keep the birds warm in winter. You can read more about them here:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Weekend Post

Hi Everybody!

Today was another hot and humid day, but we have been promised that from tomorrow on it will be getting back to normal. I can hardly wait!

Today I am sharing another mixed media A3 journal page with yet another rare bird from Balconia-by-the-Rhine. I started off with a painted and textured background to which I added one of my heads, evidently full of weeds. The bird is the bicoloured jester bird, which is about the size of a pigeon. Its call is a hearty 'ha-ha-ha-ha', which together with the beautiful markings, reminiscent of a jester's costume, led to its name. It is a very fussy eater, living off fruits and grains, preferably organically grown, and is strictly vegan. The female bird is slightly smaller, and has a different call - 'hee-hee! hee-hee!' The male is responsible for collecting the food while the female guards the nest, which is often lined with socks, which it purloins from washing lines.

And I have a special edition again with an added tag for Alison's challenge at AJJ

This morning I had to go to the doctor for an injection, and I enjoyed the walk as it rained for a few minutes - not heavy, but refreshing. On the way back the sun was up and the wet roads were steaming.

And the coffee bike was out and about - could I say no?

Have a great weekend, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
