New Challenge at Moo Mania and More

Hi Everybody!

Today is the begin of a new challenge at Moo Mania and More -
Numbers.
The challenge will run for 2 weeks, as always, and you are welcome to link up projects of all formats, not just Moos. For my mixed-media DT page I pasted some pieces of newspaper onto an A3 background and painted over it with gesso. Then I used a large TH stamp with numerals all over it. I used shabby shutters and soot black DI for the stenciling, once again with lots of numerals. The image is from the Graphics fairy. I printed my strong man out and transferred him with gel onto my page. The quote was found on Google, and written round a plate. And finally I made him into the Number 1.

This young Jay came later than the others for breakfast, so I gave him some bread, and he sat in the tree and enjoyed it. They all really love white bread.

I enjoy watching men and their machines working down by the Rhine:

Pink and pink and orange

Hi Everybody!

Hope your day is going well!

The new theme at Kristin's SOC Challenge is pink+pink+orange.
I made a journal page, also meant for Art Journal Journey, masculine-feminine. I used my lady with hat who has appeared on my blog before in various guises. But I do think she looks best in pink and orange. I painted the background (A3) with gesso, and then gave it a coat of diluted orange. When it was dry I spritzed it with the darker shade of pink. I fussy cut my lady and collaged her before painting her with 2 shades of pink. The quote from Marcus Aurelius was written with a stencil.
I am also linking to Moo Mania and More, anything goes - our new challenge starts tomorrow, so come over to find what it's about!

At Tag Tuesday the theme this week is 'out of your comfort zone'. I decided to use one of my photos for the tag, something I am not really comfortable with. Perhaps I should do it more often. I mounted it onto pale pink, orange and peony cardstock.

An just for fun, I looked for flowers in pink and orange in my photo stash:

Monday Mix

Hi Everybody!

Here's wishing you all a good start in the new week!

For Art Journal Journey, masculine-feminine, I made a journal page using an image of Mahatma Gandhi. I used a brush-wipe page onto which I sprinkled some brushos and water for the background. I drew my profile of him with charcoal, gave the head a coat of diluted white paint to make it a shade lighter than the rest, and placed the printed image, (clipartsfree.net) inside my head. I drew the glasses etc with charcoal and used a bit of white paint on them, too.
I recently read in some texts from Qumran a sentence which stuck in my mind, and inspired me to collage the quotes of Gandhi as part of his dress: 'Clothe yourself with wisdom like a robe, put knowledge upon you like a crown, and be seated on the throne of perception'. The quotes were computer generated; I have written them again here to make it easier for you to read them.

Man can never be a woman's equal in the spirit of selfless service with which nature has endowed her.
Where there is love there is life
Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony
My life is my message
The weak can never forgive, forgiveness is an attribute of the strong
The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others
You must be the change you want to see in the world.

I am also linking to Moo Mania and More, anything goes, Mix-it-monthly, facial profile, Kim Dellow's Blog for Face art, and anything but cute, Masculine.

Today I enjoyed a summery walk with sunshine and a heavenly breeze. I walked through the fields and long the Rhine, and enjoyed it very much.

The farmer was busy making hay while the sun shines....

Feminine and floral

Hi Everybody!

Hope you are having a good weekend, and that the weather is being kind to you!

For Art Journal Journey, masculine-feminine, and for Mix it Monthly, face profile, I have made another mixed media journal page. The background was painted with gesso and then giving a wash of blue and green mixed. I then spritzed some darker blue onto the page and added some pieces of hand-written paper which I waxed and ironed to make it transparent. I drew the face with a black uniball gel pen. I find it very hard to draw faces, especially in profile, but I tried. I coloured the face and hair with pastel chalks.
I am also linking to Kim Dellow's Art it Friday, show your Face and to Moo Mania and More, anything goes.

Today I got very wet on my walk, and was able to get three drippy photos of the roses in the hospital gardens before I had to pack away the camera

These are the ones from yesterday, taken with my phone - and  when the weather was better:

Have a great day you all, take care.
