Goodbye Halloween

Hi everybody!

Before I forget, I picked a winner out of the hat for my Halloween Tag  set. The winner is ........ wait for it
....drumroll ....
Christine  in Canada.
And just because it was fun, I picked a second one for a little consolation prize, which will be going to
SUZE BAIN in Bonnie Scotland.

Congrats to both ladies!
I will get your prizes out to you next week!

And I just noticed that this is post number 1111 - sounds like a magic number!
I wanted to show this card a couple of days back, but somehow never got round to it. So I have decided that the bat is flying off till next Halloween, and the ghostly lady is fading into the background, as Halloween is over. I made a card using similar techniques some years back for a challenge, and tried to recreate it. I stamped the motives of the lady and the stone edging (stamps both from LaBlanche) with perfect pearls medium onto black card, and brushed perfect pearls over them, using electric blue for the lady and gold for the masonry. I love the way the colours of the perfect pearls change with the light. The gothic arch was cut by hand from some gold card (biscuit packet) which was embossed in a TH texture fade folder, and distressed with archival black. The bat was die cut using a Sizzix strip die and edged with a krylon pen. The sand-clock was in my stash. The background has been made from paper from the Once Upon a Time stack from DCWV, and mounted onto a gold edged card. I am looking forward to Halloween next year again....

The weather was wonderful yesterday, cold but sunny, so I walked to the dilapidated castle I visited last week, and enjoyed the autumn sun, trees and leaves:

Here there are 2 fading white roses in the foreground of the photo - the last roses of summer?

This little tower at the corner of the park seems to be a mausoleum:

I had to take the photo through the glass door, so couldn't see who is buried there. My reflection looks like a ghost wearing white trainers....

And this regal lady was hiding between the trees.

Another little outbuilding:

I love the reflection here:

The ducks were happy, as always, and keen to get the salad leaves I had:

I'm glad I managed the walk yesterday, as today was cold and wet, and although I went out, it wasn't quite the same.

Hope you have a great weekend, take care, and thanks a lot for coming by!

    1. It's dark, wet and dreary here today, too - that's why I like to get out whenever the weather is passable.

  20. Once again your blog is a feast for the eyes and soul. But as they say, your eyes are the window to your soul. Your card is really spectacular - I love that lady in the background. These are the sands of time!
Love your pictures - oh if only I had the money to buy the castle. My favorite photo is the one of the mausoleum with your reflection. There also appears to be a reflection of two more graves behind you. But on closer inspection is it the reflection of the light shining on the grounds. I wonder who this man is/was I should say.
The colors are glorious and the first picture of the castle is really stunning.
I know the ducks love your visit. I wonder what that other little out building is. Right now I am totally lost in your pictures - dreaming.

  21. Wonderful card, Valerie, it could also be a non-Halloween card, it's so beautiful. I've read how you made it three times, and am mesmerised by your techniques. I love when you use biscuit packets, sometimes I see boxes of soaps or sweets and only want the box. Lovely walk again, today, you are getting some fine clear weather. The second picture of the tree is spectacular in its simplicity, it's a great photograph.
